DECIMAL FRACTIONS EXERCISE 3 (SOLUTION 111 TO 119)

111.  Given expression = (.953)² - (.953 x 0.47) +(0.047)²/(.953)³ + (0.47)³
    = (a² -a b + b²/a³ + b³) = 1/a + b = 1/.953 + .047 = 1.


112.  Given expression = (0.5)³ + (0.3)³/ (0.5)² + (0.3)² - (0.5 x 0.3) = (a³ + b³/a² + b² -a b).

   = (a + b) = (0.5 + 0.3) =0.8.

113.  Given expression = (10.3)³ + (1)³/(10.3)² - (10.3 x 1) + (1)² = (7.5)³ + (1)³/(7.5)² - (7.5 x 1) + (1)².

   = (a³ + b³/a² - a b + b²) = (a + b) =(7.5 + 1) = 8.5.

114.  Given expression (2 X 3.75)³ + (1)³/(7.5)² - (7.5 x 1) + (1)²

     = (a³ + b³/a² - a b + b²= (7.5 + 1 = 8.5.

115.  Given expression =(0.1)³ + (0.02)³/(2³ [(0.1)³ + (0.02)³] = 1.8 =0.125.

116.  Given expression = (8.94)³ - (3.56)³ / (8.94 x 3.56 + (3.56)² = (a² - b²/a² + a b + b²)

        = (a-b) = (9.94 – 3.56) = 5.38.

117.  Given expression = (0.96)³ - (0.1)³/(0.96)² + (0.96 x 0.1 ) + (0.1)² = (a³ - b³ /a² + a b  b²)

    =(a-b) = (0.96 – 0.1) =0.86.

118.  Given expression =(2.3)³ - (0.3)³/(2.3)² + (2.3 x 0.3) + (0.3)² = (a³ -b³/a² + a b + b²)

   = (a – b) = (2.3 x 0.3 – 0.3) =2.

119.  Expression = a² + b² + c²/(a/10)² + (b/10)² + (c/10)²

DECIMAL FRACTIONS EXERCISE 3 (SOLUTION 91 TO 100)

1.      Given expression = 8 – 2.8/1.3 = 5.2/1.3 = 52/13=4.

2.      Given expression = 4.7 x (13.26 + 9.43 + 77.31) = 4.7 x 100 =470.

3.      Given expression = 0.2(0.2 + 0.02) /0.044 = 0.2 x 0.22/0.044 = 0.044/0.044 =1.

4.      Given expression = 8.6 x (5.3 +4.7)/4.3 x (9.7 -8.7) = 8.6x20/4.3 x1=20.

5.      Given expression =.896 x (.763 + .237)/.7x(064 +.936) = .896/.7 x 1 =8.96/7 =1.28.

6.      Given expression = (a² -b²) – (a + b (a – b) = (68.237 + 31.763) (68.237 – 31.763)
=(100 x 36.474) = 3647.4.

7.      Given expression = a² -b² / a - b = (a+ b) (a –b)/ (a-b) = (a + b) = (2.39 + 1.61) = 4.

8.      Given expression (2.644)² - (2.356)²/2.644 – 2.356 = a² - b²/a – b= ((a + b) = (2.39 + 1.61) = 4.

9.      Let (36.54)² - (3.46)²/X = 40. Then, X = (36.54)²/40 = (36.54)² -(3.46)²/36.54 + 3.46
= a² - b² /a + b = (a- b) = (36.54 – 3.46) = 33.08.

10.  Given expression = (67.542)² - (32.458)²/ (67.542 + 7.196) – (32.458 + 7.916)
= (67.542)² - (32.458)²/67.542 – 32.458 = (67.542 + 32.458) = 200.
