Zepto Completes Reverse Flip Ahead of IPO
Quick commerce unicorn Zepto has successfully completed a reverse flip, moving its domicile from Singapore to India in preparation for its upcoming Initial Public Offering (IPO).
About Reverse Flip
Reverse flip refers to the trend of startups that were initially based overseas shifting their operations back to India and opting to list on Indian stock exchanges.
Reasons for Reverse Flip:
- To take advantage of India's large and rapidly growing economy.
- Access to greater pools of venture capital.
- Benefiting from favorable tax policies, stronger intellectual property protection, a young and educated workforce, and supportive government initiatives.
The Economic Survey 2022-23 has recommended measures to accelerate reverse flipping, such as simplifying tax vacation processes and reducing tax layers.
