20. A

SOLUTION

61.       Let the integer be x.

Then, X + X² = 182    X² +X – 182 = 0  ( X + 14 ) ( X – 13) = 0  X = 13.

17.       Let the Integer be x.

Then, X² - 20X = 96     x² - 20X -96 = 0    (X + 4) (X – 24) = 0   X = 24.

18       Let the number be x. then, X + 1/X = 34 /8 x² + 1 / X = 34 / 8     x² + 1 / X = 34 / 8   8X²

- 34X +8 = 0.

4X² - 17X + 4 = 0     (4 x -1) (X – 4) = 0     X = 4.

Required number = 4 x 4 = 4 x 2 =8.

19.       Let the number be x.

Then, 2/3 X = 25 / 216 x 1/x      x²= 25 / 216 x 3/2 = 25 / 144    x = 25 / 144 = 5/12.

20.       Let the number be x.

Then, x + 17 = 60 / X      x² + 17x – 60 = 0  ( x + 20 ) ( X – 3 ) = 0   x = 3.
