The Philippines has proposed removing the Typhon mid-range missile system, a U.S.-made weapon, if China halts its aggressive actions in the South China Sea.

About the Typhon Mid-Range Missile System:

• The Typhon system, part of the U.S. Army's Strategic Mid-Range Fires (SMRF) initiative, is capable of launching both SM-6 missiles and Tomahawk cruise missiles.

• The Standard Missile 6 (SM-6) is an extended-range anti-air warfare missile used by the U.S. military.

• Purpose: The system is designed to provide a flexible, mobile solution to neutralize high-value enemy targets, including air defense systems
