NASA recently discovered a unique black hole, LID-568, which has provided new insights into supermassive black holes. LID-568 is a low-mass supermassive black hole that existed 1.5 billion years after the Big Bang.
About Supermassive Black Holes:
- These are the most common types of black holes, known for their intense gravity, which causes stars to orbit them in specific ways.
- Black holes are cosmic objects with enormous concentrations of matter packed into incredibly small spaces.
- Eddington Limit: This governs the rate at which a black hole consumes matter. When this limit is surpassed, it results in super-Eddington accretion.
- LID-568 lies within this super-Eddington accretion phase.
