Quality Control Order for Solar Photovoltaic Products

The Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has recently issued the Solar Systems, Devices, and Components Goods Order, 2025, for the quality control of Solar PV modules and inverters. This order has been issued under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Act, 2016.

The BIS Act, 2016, establishes a national standards body (BIS) responsible for the coordinated development of standards and quality assurance for goods, articles, processes, and more.

Key Highlights of the Order:

• The new order revises and replaces the existing Solar Photovoltaics, Systems, Devices, and Components Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2017.
• The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) will be responsible for issuing licenses and enforcing the provisions of the order.
