c)       144

d)      None of these

ANSWERS

1.C
2.B
3.D
4.C
5.C

SOLUTION

1.       Let the number be X. then, X – 3/5 X = 50  2/5X = 50        X = (50 x 5/2)

               X = 125.

2.       Let the number be x. the, x – 4 / 6 = 8      X – 4 = 48    X = 52.

                  X – 2 / 5 = 52 – 2 / 5 = 50 / 5
                   = 10.

3.       Let the number be x. the, 1/3 of ¼ of x = 15  x = 15 x 12 – 180.
                     So, required number = (3 / 10 x 180)

                   = 54.

4.       Let the number be x. the, 3 (2X + 9)=75    2x + 9 = 25    2X = 16

            X =8.

5.       Let the number be x. then, 3/4X = 1/3 x = 60   5X /12 = 60      X = (60 x 12 / 5)

           = 144.
