Indonesian President Recognized as Chief Guest at India’s 76th Republic Day Celebration

Indonesia previously served as the chief guest country at India’s first Republic Day in 1950.

During the visit, both nations signed agreements on maritime security, health, traditional medicine, and more. They are also collaborating on a framework agreement for defense cooperation, focusing on technology sharing projects including surface-to-surface missiles, air defense systems, and submarine construction technology transfers.
India also welcomed Indonesia's decision to join the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure at an early stage.

India-Indonesia Bilateral Relations

India’s Act East Policy and the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative align with Indonesia’s Global Maritime Fulcrum vision, deepening their geopolitical collaboration.

Geostrategic: Indonesia’s strategic position between the Indian and Pacific Oceans is crucial for India’s SAGAR initiative.
The ability to access Sabang Port will enhance trade through the Malacca Strait and help counterbalance China's influence in the Indo-Pacific region.
