The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) in Hyderabad has recently been selected for the Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar-2025.
This annual award, announced on the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose (23rd January), recognizes individuals and organizations for their significant contributions to disaster management in India.
About INCOIS:
- Establishment: Founded in 1999 under the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), INCOIS is a unit of the Earth System Science Organisation (ESSO).
- UNESCO Membership: INCOIS is a permanent member of UNESCO's Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC).
Key Functions:
- Provides critical ocean-related information and advisory services.
- Issues warnings for tsunamis, storm surges, high waves, and other hazards through the Indian Tsunami Early Warning Centre (ITEWC).
